A scraping browser is a browser that runs on someone else’s servers. The provider manages the browser, its fingerprint, the proxies it routes through, and the anti-bot challenges it meets. You send it instructions and get data back.
This guide covers nine of them. They’re ranked by the job each does best rather than by an overall score, because the biggest difference between them isn’t features. It’s what they charge you for.

That bundle is what defines the category. It isn’t defined by how you connect to it. That last option means a scraping browser can sit inside an AI agent without anyone writing a selector.
Here’s the difference from running a headless browser yourself. With local Playwright, you own the browser fleet, the proxy setup, the fingerprint patching, and the scaling. You also keep all four current as detection methods change. With a scraping browser, the provider owns them and you write the automation.
Two things follow from that, and both matter before you compare prices. Sessions are disposable, so each one starts clean unless you save a profile on purpose. And the browser runs on hardware you can’t see, which is why what a provider meters matters more than its headline price.
When to use one instead of a scraping API or antidetect browser

Pick a scraping browser when the data only appears after something happens: a login, an infinite scroll, a filter you have to click. Pricing is around $8.40 per GB pay-as-you-go, or $499 a month for 69 GB, across 195+ locations. Premium domains cost extra.
Below serious volume, though, it’s expensive. At small scale, run the numbers against a bundled option first.
3. Zyte API: best for complex scripted interactions
Zyte’s standout feature is a TypeScript API delivered through a cloud-hosted VS Code environment. You write scripts that simulate real mouse movement and typing. It also picks a geolocation to match the target automatically, which removes a setup step.
Pricing is usage-based and the rate changes with site complexity and the features you switch on. Zyte publishes an estimator. Proxyway notes that turning on JavaScript rendering raises the cost substantially.
A rate that moves is harder to budget than a flat per-GB price. Run the estimator against your real targets.
4. ZenRows Scraping Browser: best for the quickest integration
Sessions emulate mouse and keyboard input and route through ZenRows’ residential pool across 190+ locations.
It costs $69 a month plus $0.09 per hour of session time, with a 14-day trial capped at 100 MB. The hourly charge applies during the trial too. The subscription covers ZenRows’ other tools as well.
Users report that it lacks more advanced CAPTCHA solving. On well-defended sites that becomes the thing that stops you.
5. Scrapeless: best for CAPTCHA-heavy targets
Its CDP API handles four challenge types: reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile, the Cloudflare 5-second challenge, and AWS WAF. You can watch the solving process and configure how the solver behaves. It also detects dynamic content and adjusts settings as it goes. Integration is through Puppeteer or Playwright across 195+ locations.
Starts from $49 a month, billed by session duration rather than traffic.

They were built for AI agents driving browsers, not for classic scraping.
6. Browserbase: best for AI agents that need session replay
Remote browsers you connect to with Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium, and Stagehand, their open-source framework for writing automation in plain English.

Watch the proxy rate. At $10 to $12 per GB it’s the most expensive bandwidth here, and browser-rendered pages move a lot of it. On a heavy scrape the proxies cost more than the browsers do.
7. Hyperbrowser: best for high-concurrency crawls
Credit-based billing, with CAPTCHA solving and stealth switched on by default. It advertises no concurrency cap on paid plans.
Credits are harder to forecast than a flat rate, because the same workload costs different amounts depending on what it does. Check the current credit rate on Hyperbrowser’s own pricing page before you plan around it. It’s also the youngest platform here, with a shorter track record than the rest.
8. Browserless: best for unit-based billing or self-hosting
BrowserQL is the differentiator, a GraphQL API that replaces a lot of imperative Playwright scripting. Browserless can also be self-hosted, which matters when data residency is a requirement.

Everything else converts into units too. Residential proxy traffic costs 6 units per MB, datacenter 2 units per MB, and a successful CAPTCHA solve costs 10 units.
At Starter’s $0.0017 overage rate, 6 units per MB works out around $10 per GB of residential traffic, which is in the same range as Browserbase.
9. Steel.dev: best if you’d rather own the infrastructure
Free and open source. You run it yourself and pay only for your servers and whatever proxies you point it at. It’s framework-agnostic and self-hostable by design, with open-source SDKs.
In exchange you’ve taken on the operations. Scaling the browser fleet, upgrading versions, wiring in proxies, and keeping anti-bot handling current all become your job. That’s a fair trade with a DevOps team and a big bill, and a bad one without.
Open-source alternatives you can self-host
Camoufox, Patchright, and nodriver handle the fingerprint layer with no hosted service at all. They’re libraries, not browsers-as-a-service, so you supply the infrastructure and the proxies and control every layer. Scraping browser pricing: what each provider charges for
Headline prices here aren’t comparable, because these nine meter four different things. So here’s one job, priced by what each provider actually bills.
The job: 10,000 pages that need rendering, roughly 2 MB each, about 12 seconds each. That’s around 20 GB of traffic and 33 browser hours. Your numbers will differ. The point is the shape of the bill.

On most platforms, the bandwidth costs more than the browser. Look at Browserbase: 33 browser hours are covered by the plan, but 20 GB of proxy traffic adds $150 to $228 on top. Browserless is the same story in different units, with proxy traffic making up roughly 97% of what this job consumes. The browser is rarely the expensive part.
Billing by time charges you for waiting. A large share of any browser session is spent waiting for a server to answer. On per-hour and per-unit meters, that waiting is billable.
Which means the per-GB rate decides the bill. On this job, the gap between $2.20 and $12 a gigabyte is the difference between $44 and $240 for identical output. Whether the browser itself is free barely registers next to that.
A rendered page with images and CSS runs 1 to 3 MB. The same data pulled from the JSON endpoint behind it runs closer to 50 KB. Finding that endpoint cuts the dominant cost by an order of magnitude no matter whose browser you use.
